It's a wonder there aren't more homicides committed in dorms, and/or shared living spaces. My roomies like to watch TV from 10pm-5:30a.m. My ear plugs block out the racket but the glare from the TV screen is like a beacon!!

I want to shout profanities and kick the damned TV out in the hallway. I've restrained myself thus far and shall continue to do so until I get a chance to talk to the roomies. We're all on such weird schedules, so when I see them it's fleeting. And I've only seen them once, so I don't recognize them that well, either.

Fortunately, I'm sleeping like a baby and haven't caught an infectious disease from the nasty shower - yet. But god forbid I catch the heebie jeebies, shouting profanities and kicking appliances will seem mild in comparison.

  1. A good friend, (whose name I won't mention, but whose initials are C.V.) introduced me to the sleep mask years ago. While initially I scoffed, "those are only for actresses and old ladies", I soon became a believer, after realizing how effective they were at shutting out the outside world, especially on long flights. (after much consideration, I decided it was probably NOT appropriate for the office. Nor would I recommend it for your workplace, given the close quarters and presence of sharp objects. I am however, still thinking about it for the next family reunion.) I opted for a very simple black velvet number, which reflects my classic and sensible style. (O.K., there's a little bit of the "Magician's Assistant" fantasy in there too, but that's for my other blog) I am curious to see what your choice in a mask might be. I could see you in a chic little satin print, covered in tropical flowers. You are in Hawaii, after all. Just a suggestion. I wouldn't want to get a call saying that you're in the brig for assault.

  2. I gave some thought to a face mask but I already wear some other "head gear" and can't fathom having to strap on one more damn thing.

Closing my eyes so far seems to do the trick!
